TRP teaches fine art to the residents at Atria Assisted Living in Barrington.

I have recently received the honor of teaching art to the residents at Atria Assisted living in Barrington, R.I.

I began teaching at this facility in October. The first lesson I taught was pumpkins and everyone did absolutely wonderful. It was a lot of fun getting to know each other. I had a chance to see who had unique art tricks up their sleeves and by the time we finished I was really looking forward to our next visit.

When I returned in November, I was surprised to see the attendance tripled. I was told that word got around how much fun we had. This time I taught how to paint a gnome. What a treat it was to see these amazing artists create their masterpieces! I was so impressed that I asked permission to photograph them and share their work with my website readers.

Here are the wonderful works that were created by the residents at the Atria Assisted Living Community. I truly hope you enjoy them.

Thank you so much for following me on my painted path.

Stay Creative!

Halloween Themed Paint Nights at The Rusty Palette

The month of October brings lots of fun events and for The Rusty Palette that means Halloween painting fun!

I will be teaching 2 separate paint nights and both will involve witches to celebrate this beautiful season.

“Booty-FULL Moon” “Casting”

Escada Restaurant and Bar will be hosting our paint night on October 16th with a begginers level painting named “casting”. This painting is fun and easy to complete so I will be adding an extra step to this particular one for a magical night. Before we begin to paint the background, each painter will write their own personal wish that will be granted once their magic sparkles have been painted in as seen in the short video below. In addition to having your wish granted you will also receive a complimentary beverage from Escada along with some crazy good dinner specials.

Purchase your ticket in the Art Shoppe now because our seats fill in very quickly.

@thestudio is our newest public paint night venue. ‘The studio” is a private function bar room where we will provide snacks and beverages for you as well as live accoustic music and some door prizes for our DEBUT paint night. You can certainly bring your own beverages if you prefer an alcoholic libation. The studio boasts a relaxed atmosphere which allows for a more advanced and intimate teaching. I highly recommend this venue if you are looking to learn more and up your art skills. The photos below will give you an idea of the process you will be experiencing. All tickets must be purchased prior to the event as there are no tickets sales at the door.

House of Horrors Mural

Prints of original mural are available for purchase in my art shoppe

If you grew up in Rhode Island in the 70โ€™s and 80โ€™s you know all about the โ€œRocky Pointโ€ house of horrors

I did grow up in this time and I was honored when asked to paint this mural for the โ€œRocky Point Chowder Houseโ€ in Warwick, RI back in 2018.

Before creating the 8โ€™ x 4โ€™ mural, I painted a small scale version for reference on canvas. This piece measures 31 1/2 x 12 1/2โ€œ. It was only intended to be a guide for me to work with while creating the mural however, I have decided to put it up for sale in my shop as I believe it will make a beautiful addition to anybodyโ€™s home that has a sense of nostalgia for Rocky Point park.

Small scale, acrylic painting on canvas is available for purchase in my
art shoppe

Prints of the original mural are for sale as well in my ART SHOPPE

Although Rocky point Park is a thing of the past us Gen-Xers will always have the good times in our hearts.

Thank you so much for taking the time to enjoy my artwork.

Creatively Yours โ€ฆ Erin

Let’s Create NEURO-graphic Art

Sign up for my JUNE 2023 workshop below!

What is Neurographic Art?

Neurographic art is a process of creating visual art that originated from Russia in the early twenty-first century. The process of neurographic art is believed to activate neural pathways in the brain, which can lead to emotional and psychological benefits for the artist.

To create a neurographic art piece, the artist begins to focus on an issue in their life while drawing shapes on a piece of paper. These shapes then become the starting point for the artwork. The artist then adds lines through every shape on the page. The lines are to cover the entire page from end to end. Adding new shapes can be done until a complex image is formed as long as ALL the shapes have lines going through them. The artist can also add words or phrases to the artwork, which may be hidden among the lines or more prominently displayed. The result is a highly detailed and layered image that reflects the artist’s emotions and experiences.

Neurographic art can be created using a variety of materials, including pen and ink, paint, and digital tools. The art form has become increasingly popular in recent years as a form of therapy and self-expression. It has been used to help individuals with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues to explore and process their emotions.

Overall, neurographic art is an innovative and expressive form of art that combines drawing and focused thought to create complex and meaningful images. Its therapeutic benefits make it a valuable tool for individuals seeking to explore their emotions and improve their mental wellbeing.

I have tried this method and I absolutely love it! I did my first neurographic drawing while going through a very hard time. I was relieved to find that by the time I had completed my drawing all of my fears and anxieties had melted away.

I had so much success while practicing this art I decided to create a class! I will be teaching this class in Johnston, RI at New England Massage and Healing Arts on Hartford Avenue. To sign up just click the link below!

“Peace Rocks” FREE ROCK PAINTING

Peace ROCKS ... Paint them, Hide them, make someone smile.
Peace ROCKS … Paint them, Hide them, make someone smile.

Hello & Happy Springtime to you!

I’ve been hunkered down deep in hibernation just as most New Englanders do. I’m slowlyย  awakening and stretching while planning my first outdoor paint event of 2018!

FUN RIGHT?

Most of us have skipped stones across a pond at one time or another in our lives. We’ve all witnessed the beautiful ripples created by each stone touching down onto the surface of the water. I’m quite sure that many of us watched in AWE as we realized how far those ripples carried.

It’s time to create a ripples of happiness throughout our communities just as those stones created ripples throughout the pond.

Let’s reach EXTRA high and create a WAVE of happiness.

Once our PEACE ROCKS are beautifully painted with positive messages we will hide them on walking trails and various places where pedestrians willย  stumble upon them and smile.

Together we can spread happiness, tolerance, and love.

The Importance of Play & Learning

Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful day.

I’ve completed this piece and am varnishing it now.

It will be on sale Friday, January 26th at Strings Bar & Grill in Johnston, Rhode Island.

I really enjoyed building color via transparent layers on this work. It was a new technique I learned in a “happy accident” as Bob Ross would say. I tend to have many happy accidents and that is precisely what you get when you practice daily. If you spend time ‘playing’ with your art supplies you can actually learn new techniques.

I’ve started using my sketchbook more and more as I realize this. It always felt like I wasn’t working when “playing” and coloring in my sketchbook. What I have learned is that it is actually CRUCIAL to my art development.ย As of late, I’ve been using the daily mantra write ~ paint ~ edit.ย These three words keep me on track to move my work forward on a daily basis. I believe PLAY needs to be added to my mantra.

As I stated above, when you play with your art supplies in your sketchbook you may be having fun but it is also crucial to learning new techniques.

I wont be able to fit “playing in my sketchbook” daily but I will certainly add it to my weekly task list.

You should as well.

As always, Keep creating!
