Let’s Create NEURO-graphic Art

What is Neurographic Art?

Neurographic art is a process of creating visual art that originated from Russia in the early twenty-first century. The process of neurographic art is believed to activate neural pathways in the brain, which can lead to emotional and psychological benefits for the artist.

To create a neurographic art piece, the artist begins to focus on an issue in their life while drawing shapes on a piece of paper. These shapes then become the starting point for the artwork. The artist then adds lines through every shape on the page. The lines are to cover the entire page from end to end. Adding new shapes can be done until a complex image is formed as long as ALL the shapes have lines going through them. The artist can also add words or phrases to the artwork, which may be hidden among the lines or more prominently displayed. The result is a highly detailed and layered image that reflects the artist’s emotions and experiences.

Neurographic art can be created using a variety of materials, including pen and ink, paint, and digital tools. The art form has become increasingly popular in recent years as a form of therapy and self-expression. It has been used to help individuals with anxiety, depression, and other mental health issues to explore and process their emotions.

Overall, neurographic art is an innovative and expressive form of art that combines drawing and focused thought to create complex and meaningful images. Its therapeutic benefits make it a valuable tool for individuals seeking to explore their emotions and improve their mental wellbeing.

I have tried this method and I absolutely love it! I did my first neurographic drawing while going through a very hard time. I was relieved to find that by the time I had completed my drawing all of my fears and anxieties had melted away.

I had so much success while practicing this art I decided to create a class! I will be teaching this class in Johnston, RI at New England Massage and Healing Arts on Hartford Avenue. To sign up just click the link below!

The Importance of Play & Learning

Hello! I hope you are having a wonderful day.

I’ve completed this piece and am varnishing it now.

It will be on sale Friday, January 26th at Strings Bar & Grill in Johnston, Rhode Island.

I really enjoyed building color via transparent layers on this work. It was a new technique I learned in a “happy accident” as Bob Ross would say. I tend to have many happy accidents and that is precisely what you get when you practice daily. If you spend time ‘playing’ with your art supplies you can actually learn new techniques.

I’ve started using my sketchbook more and more as I realize this. It always felt like I wasn’t working when “playing” and coloring in my sketchbook. What I have learned is that it is actually CRUCIAL to my art development. As of late, I’ve been using the daily mantra write ~ paint ~ editThese three words keep me on track to move my work forward on a daily basis. I believe PLAY needs to be added to my mantra.

As I stated above, when you play with your art supplies in your sketchbook you may be having fun but it is also crucial to learning new techniques.

I wont be able to fit “playing in my sketchbook” daily but I will certainly add it to my weekly task list.

You should as well.

As always, Keep creating!
